In 1986, a year after Michel Bécot's retirement, it had been downgraded to Grand Cru Classé, which had made headlines at the time. But the energy of his two sons, Gérard and Dominique, allowed the estate to regain its rank in 1996. The Beau-Séjour Bécot team oversees two neighboring properties, Château Grand Pontet, managed by their younger sister Sylvie Pourquet, and La Gomerie, an opulent 100% Merlot sold at a premium price. Beau-Séjour Bécot represents the essence of a great hillside wine, concentrated, solid, and lively. It gains a dazzling complexity with aging.
