In Bordeaux it is now established that it is on the hillsides of Pavie and Ausone that the vine was implanted for the first time in Saint Emilion in IV century. But it was not until the 19th century that the true wine vocation of Pavie really took sense. At that time, the Château is divided among several families of owners, including Talleman and Pigasse. In 1954, during the official classification of the wines of Saint Emilion, the Château Pavie reaches the rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé B. The arrival of Gérard Perse in Pavie in 1998, will be at the origin of a tremendous leap forward , today endorsed by the unanimity of the world of wine. In 2012, Château Pavie wins the top ranking among the Premiers Grands Crus classés A

(01-1998) Excluding the 1982, the 1986 is the finest Pavie made in the last three decades. It is a full-bodied, deep, tannic, highly extracted wine, with a bouquet that displays a great deal of sweet, toasty oak, and a finish that goes on and on. There are noticeable tannins in the wine, so expect to defer your gratification for some time while waiting for this wine to mature. Quite impressive, Pavie is clearly one of the stars of the St.-Emilion appellation in 1986.
(06-1989) Extremely concentrated and tart, with sharply focused cherry, cassis and herb aromas and flavors, showing just enough roundness and complexity on the finish.
(01-1993) Dark red color. Good intensity. Evolved on the fringe. Brilliant. Beautiful. Nose of medium intensity. Brilliant. Beautiful. To the powerful agitation. Same register. Soft and mellow attack developing on a fleshy and round structure that evolves greasy on tasty tannins, well balanced until mid-palate but a little rustic in the finish. Long persistence somewhat marked by liveliness.
