Jean-Marc Quarin December - 1990
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark red. Dense. Black reflections. Slight change. Brilliant. Beautiful. Net. Very intense, rich and complex. Fruity, woody and spicy. Fairly fresh. Net. Intense. Shades of yellow and always fruity with a note of fresh cream, wood and licorice. Good. Attack is sharp, ample and suave. Development on a powerful, round, concentrated structure which evolves very balanced on a tasty very complex tastes, fruity and very spicy, towards a fat, slightly melted and very long finish. A lot of allure. Great wine a little austere but racy whose tannin is infinite.

This structured Montrose tastes barely 25 years old. It has aged gracefully and still offers a lovely firm, full bodied experience with cedar, leather and dried fruit flavors. Fairly long finish.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Ruby tea colored with an earthy, Asian spice, smoke, tobacco and cassis filled nose. Old school in style, this foursquare wine is on the firm and austere side of the style meter. It ends in a cassis and cranberry finish. This wine was better in the nose than than on the palate.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
It offers an elegant bouquet with a floral bent, well defined, right but focused with black cherries and cranberry infused with loamy scents. The palate has a little chewiness on the entry, nicely balanced and precise (within the context of winemaking in this period), fresh and composed towards the finish that gives off a touch of volatility.  this 1975 will continue to give drinking pleasure.

Jancis Robinson March -

(9-2005) This was very impressive – although note the suggested drinking bracket. This is a very long haul wine, but definitely one of the more successful candidates from this extremely tannic vintage. The wine looks fully mature and has a thoroughly exciting complex nose with just the right amount of lift. Lots of richness on the nose and great extract but very dry, dense chewy tannins – still! But the fruit density suggests this will make a great drink – eventually.
