still have dark and red fruit, medium tannin (fully resolved), hint of rusticity in a good way and med high acidity, relatively strong secondary and tertiary notes (cedar, leaves and undergrowth), medium long finish and some Margaux typical floral smell.

The moated castle of Issan belongs to the Cruse family, one of Bordeaux's most famous. Under the direction of Emmanuel Cruse, and with consultant Jacques Boissenot, the estate is enjoying something of a renaissance. With its great, generous, rich and sweet fruit, its ripe tannins and its black jelly flavors, it makes a powerful statement. Wood is there, but doesn't dominate.

RVF Magazine The nose shows the beginning of evolution with notes of fresh truffle. The palate is very round and smooth. The whole is classic and ready to drink.

I found no major differences between the decanted and non-decanted wine. The nose presents ripe fruit and a hint of caramel. Rounded and juicy palate, rather soft and tender, finishing in a classic manner with persistence. The finish is slightly lively.

Intense aromas of blackberry tart with hints of rhubarb. Medium- to full-bodied, with soft tannins and a medium finish. This is really nice. Stylish wine.

Using 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot, the wine reached 12.7% alcohol. The wine looks mature, as it has taken on degrees of lightening in the ruby color. In the nose, forest floor, earth, leaf, cedar-chest, gravel and cassis scents are present. Medium bodied and soft in texture, this charming Margaux wine ends with light, cherry and cassis. I’d opt for drinking this sooner than later as it might not improve much from here.

Healthy crimson. Very light nose. Fragrant and delicate but without much impact. At least it’s true to the appellation… Pretty but not stunning.

Château D'Issan
Château D'Issan
Château d'Issan, Margaux, 3rd Classified Growth classified as 3rd Growth in 1855. Château d'Issan is a magnificent property located on the banks of the Gironde, it is said that the wine of Issan was served at the wedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry Plantagenet in 1152. The grape variety composition of Château d'Issan is classic, with about three-quarters Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a naturally fine Margaux, which can be rich and round when the vintage allows. In recent years, the vintages vinified by Emmanuel Cruse have proven to be even denser and more complex.
