(11-1998) A very good yet rather one-dimensional wine. Dark brick-red in color, with a ruby center. Berry, stone and earth aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with sharp tannins and a wet earth and tobacco aftertaste
(Ed 1998) This has always been an attractive as well as deceptively forward wine that is dark ruby, with a rich, chocolate, berry-like aroma, a prominent oakiness, and a toasty, smoky quality. For a de Fieuzal, this is a muscular, more intense style than is usual. The 1982 should age well for at least a decade.
