DOMAINE MARCEL DEISS 2022

To drink between 2025 and 2050.
The terroir of Mambourg, with its rare geology of Quaternary Oligocene limestones, gives birth to dry wines of singular tannic power and extreme complexity. This grape variety composition confers a rounded and suave form in the mouth, despite the intensity.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 2022 Grand Cru Mambourg displays an intense, dark yellow color and opens with a super intense and concentrated yet elegant and mineral bouquet of ripe yellow fruits and dark citrus fruits, crushed salts, limestone rocks and a hint of mocha beans and iodine notes. Full-bodied, round and very rich yet also very elegant and refined on the palate, this is a very generous, powerful and concentrated yet also stimulating saline and finely tannic Mambourg with a long, warm and super intense, saline and crunchy finish. In this warm vintage, the Mambourg comes across like a Hermitage and should be exciting to follow through the vintage river for several years.

James Suckling May - 2025
James Suckling
Although this wine has Burgundian textural complexity, it is not the least Burgundian in aromas. Pronounced honeycomb and super-ripe yellow apple aromas, underlined by generous tannins and leesy complexity. Very long, dense and salty finish that is delicately creamy. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Marcel Deiss

Domaine Marcel Deiss is one of the most emblematic and unique estates in Alsace wine country, renowned for its deeply terroir-focused vision and its unique interpretation of great Alsatian wines. Located in Bergheim, in the heart of Haut-Rhin, the estate has established itself over several decades as an essential reference for understanding the expression of Alsatian soils at the highest level.

The vineyard extends over approximately 32 hectares, a large part of which is classified as Alsace Grand Cru, with emblematic plots such as Altenberg de Bergheim, Schoenenbourg, Engelgarten and Mambourg. Unlike the traditional approach centered on grape variety, Marcel Deiss favors a parcel-based and geological reading of wine, emphasizing terroir above all else.

The estate is managed using organic and biodynamic agriculture, a long-standing committed practice aimed at preserving the natural balance of the soils and the vitality of the vines. Plantings are often carried out in field blends, combining several grape varieties on the same plot in order to more faithfully express the identity of the terroir.

The wines of Domaine Marcel Deiss are distinguished by their depth, complexity and great aging potential. Outstanding vintages such as Domaine Marcel Deiss 2006, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2020, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2008, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2015, Domaine Marcel Deiss 2022. illustrate the consistency and quality ambition of the estate, which has become an absolute reference for lovers of great Alsatian wines.
