Clos Marie

Clos Marie is the benchmark of the AOP Pic Saint-Loup. Founded in 1995 by Françoise Julien and Christophe Peyrus on vines inherited from Marie, Françoise's grandmother — whose grapes had until then been delivered to the cooperative — this twenty-two-hectare estate based in Lauret, on the foothills of the Cévennes, has over thirty years become one of the most admired addresses in the Languedoc.

Biodynamics has been at the heart of the project from day one. From their establishment in 1995, Françoise and Christophe chose to manage their vineyard according to these principles — well before the approach became a trend in the Languedoc. Manual harvesting, no chemical inputs, long ageing without fining or filtration: every decision aims to express the terroir's character as faithfully as possible. Massal selection and complantation — a mix of grape varieties on the same plot, practised since 2002 on the Simon parcel — are two rare practices that give the wines exceptional complexity and depth.

The Clos Marie style has been built on a conviction: finesse before power. Red wines from Pic Saint-Loup with a tight structure, velvety tannins, driven by garrigue, dark fruit and liquorice; crystalline and mouth-watering whites, among the finest in the Languedoc. The 2011, 2015, 2020, 2021 and 2023 vintages rank among the estate's finest achievements.
