Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Inching closer and closer to the celestial 1990, is the 1989. This cuvee was fabulous when tasted in Bonneau’s cellars, but it closed down after bottling. Possibly even more powerful and tannic than the 1990, as well as more backward, the 1989 looks to be a great classic. It is a Reserve des Celestins to forget for another 3-8 years. It possesses all the characteristics of the 1990, but everything is packed into a more linear personality. Amazing stuff!

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Not a wine I see often, here you find an expression of rocks, stones, herbs, kirsch, spice and grilled meat. At almost 33 years of age, this is still showing incredible concentration and a wild elegant character.

This is the best Bonneau wine I've ever had. Fine, complex, rich, layered nose and the palate is, despite all this richness, incredibly precise. Notes of treacle/molasses but there is vibrant freshness too. Very exciting. What a treat. Trounced the two 1989 Hermitages served immediately beforehand.

Domaine Henri Bonneau
Henri Bonneau (born in 1938) is the 12th generation of winemakers. He made his first vintage in 1956. His estate covers only 6 hectares, mainly Grenache which normally accounts for more than 90% of the blend with small quantities of Mourvèdre, Counoise and Vaccarèse added. Henri Bonneau decides for each vintage which cuvées he will make. Sometimes one or maybe up to four. A brilliant winemaker and mischievous man, he continues to produce wines with a unique personality, outside of any fashion, trend or influence. Whether it's aging or bottling, nothing here responds to any financial logic or the standards of modern oenology. Unfortunately, the different cuvées, produced in very limited quantities, are particularly difficult to find.
