Well-crafted red. Vivid blackberry and violet aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and very silky, with lovely tannins and a medium aftertaste of fruit and toasted oak.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Firm, almost strict, classic, four square style of wine, with a tannic edge. There is plenty of tobacco, earth, forest, cassis, cedar wood and cranberry to go around, but the wine does have a very austere character. this wine is going to please some folks more than others.

Bordeaux red color, evolved, brown on the rim. It needs to be decanted to remove an unpleasant animal nuance present in the first serving. Fruit notes. Hint of cedar. Beginning of an aging bouquet. Overall, the wine lacks body but its aromas are fine. The structure caresses the palate right through to the finish where a slightly firm tannicity appears. Normal length. Undecanted, the palate has more body. The finish seems firmer and very tannic. But when eating, I think it would be better suited undecanted.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
This wine performed better from cask. Out of bottle, it displays a medium ruby color, and a distinctive nose of underbrush, damp earth, and loamy-tinged black currant fruit. Moderately tannic, with medium body and some angularity, this wine possesses good extract, but not much soul or character

Mid crimson with a little evolution. Lots of complex fruity development on the nose. Easy and sweet on the palate. Meat-and-two-veg notes. A little awkward on the palate – a bit jagged.

Fragrant, refreshing, 'cedar pencils' nose ; rich, fruit, agreeable body, a touch of gritiness mid-palate, dry finish.

Château Beychevelle
Château Beychevelle

Château Beychevelle is one of the most iconic estates in the Saint-Julien appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as a Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has embodied for several centuries a distinctive style that is both elegant, balanced and deeply Médoc in character. Its name, derived from the legend of "Baisse-Voile" (Lower Sail), directly references its majestic location on the banks of the Gironde and its historical role in Bordeaux river trade.

The Château Beychevelle vineyard extends over approximately 90 hectares, planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The deep gravel soils, typical of Saint-Julien, ensure optimal drainage and promote regular maturation, contributing to the consistent quality of the growth.

Beychevelle wines are distinguished by their harmony, silky texture and aromatic finesse, combining black fruits, spicy notes and a subtly oaked touch. Capable of evolving gracefully over several decades, they rank among the classic references of the Médoc. Vintages such as Château Beychevelle 1947, Château Beychevelle 1967, Château Beychevelle 1989, Château Beychevelle 1983, Château Beychevelle 1986, Château Beychevelle 2005, perfectly illustrate the consistency and aging potential of this great wine.
