Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Still vibrant and young at 19 years old, full of charm, silky textured tannins that are well integrated but still very much cradling the fruit, with waves of cigar box, crushed rocks, earth, saffron and tobacco. Great moment to drink, 60% new oak for ageing.

Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Strong ruby red, always beautiful brilliance. Deep, smoky, very complex on the nose, cherries, blackberries, dried flowers, mint, leather, coffee. Silky, creamy, accessible palate, initially almost harmless, the wine spreads out, becomes full-bodied and powerful, it has strength and concentration, but is not at all heavy, the tannins are extremely finely woven, the acidity keeps the fruit package fresh.

Very much in an elegant style, this wine shows soft, almost velvet tannins supporting the ripe fruit. It has richness, a round character masking the dense texture, and setting off the clean red berry fruits and fresh acidity.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Medium-bodied, crisp, and crunchy with accents of tobacco leaf, cedar, cigar box, and flowers, the wine is fresh, as well as firm on the currant-filled palate.

Finesse from the first sniff here, with an aromatic brightness coupled to a ripe cassis fruit quality. Plenty of tannins here - more structure than is normal for Beychevelle, but there is such luxurious sweetness of fruit too and elegant acidity.

Has pretty blackberry, licorice and spices on the nose. Full-bodied, with medium tannins and a minerally, fruity, almost spicy finish. Balanced and refined.

Dark crimson. Rather muddy nose. Round fruit juice with not much framework in evidence. A tad dull.

Château Beychevelle
Château Beychevelle

Château Beychevelle is one of the most iconic estates in the Saint-Julien appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Classified as a Fourth Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has embodied for several centuries a distinctive style that is both elegant, balanced and deeply Médoc in character. Its name, derived from the legend of "Baisse-Voile" (Lower Sail), directly references its majestic location on the banks of the Gironde and its historical role in Bordeaux river trade.

The Château Beychevelle vineyard extends over approximately 90 hectares, planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The deep gravel soils, typical of Saint-Julien, ensure optimal drainage and promote regular maturation, contributing to the consistent quality of the growth.

Beychevelle wines are distinguished by their harmony, silky texture and aromatic finesse, combining black fruits, spicy notes and a subtly oaked touch. Capable of evolving gracefully over several decades, they rank among the classic references of the Médoc. Vintages such as Château Beychevelle 1947, Château Beychevelle 1967, Château Beychevelle 1989, Château Beychevelle 1983, Château Beychevelle 1986, Château Beychevelle 2005, perfectly illustrate the consistency and aging potential of this great wine.
