Dotorwine (04-2016) : A full, red color with brick reflections. The aroma is mellow and delicate, complex but not redundant with fine notes of chanterelles, ink and strawberry tree. With breathing the bouquet becomes almost ethereal and impalpable without ever settling to then close on a beautiful note of beech bark. The mouthfeel, compared to the previous giants, is almost pubescent, sinuous and very fresh.

(09-1999) Most recently, a fairly intense colour with velvety sheen; rich, unmistakable bouquet. Fairly sweet, powerful, 'burnt brown paper' taste but drinking well.

Château informations

As AngelusCheval Blanc and Pavie, Ausone is ranked as Premier Grand Cru Classé A in Saint Emilion. Ausone is a tiny area of 7 acres located on the slopes of St. Emilion. Situated on the location of the villa of the Latin poet Ausonius, the area enjoys a southern exposure, terraced vineyards and very old  grape varieties. The cellar, dug into the rock, is extraordinary.  The wine, long known to be assertive, they are dense, intense with complex aromas that allow Ausone to rank amongst the best Bordeaux estates. The grape varieties are merlot, cabernet franc with a majority of cabernet franc (55%).
