Château Haut-Bailly is a Bordeaux wine estate located on the left bank, south of Bordeaux. Château Haut Bailly produces classified growths of Graves in the Pessac Léognan AOC, and is one of the few Graves properties that produces only red wine. The vineyard is cultivated following sustainable viticulture principles, covering 30 hectares of vines nearly 35 years old, planted on gravelly and sandy soil. 4 grape varieties make up the vineyard: Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (34%), Cabernet Franc (3%), and Petit Verdot (3%).

The estate's second wine is called "La Parde Haut Bailly" and the third red wine, "le Pessac Léognan", comes from the estate's youngest vines. Finally, Château Haut Bailly also produces a rosé called "Rosé de Haut Bailly".

Among the finest achievements, we recommend Château Haut Bailly 1983, 1988. We also recommend Château Haut Bailly 1989 and Haut Bailly 1990. For recent vintages, the 2001, 2005, 2006, and Château Haut Bailly 2009 are good compromises.

In 1998, the Sanders family sold the vineyard to an American banker, Bob Wilmers, but Véronique Sanders continues to manage it. Gentle, almost discreet tannins and a delicate balance, "without anything in excess" as Jean Sanders likes to say, define the incomparable Haut Bailly style. There is nothing ostentatious about this wine that embodies Bordeaux finesse.
