Beaurenard's 1994 vintage was extremely successful, as much of their harvest was completed before any damaging rain arrived. Their 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape is a sexy, sweet, rich, black fruit-scented wine with a whiff of Provencal herbs. It is round, generous, and richly fruity, but behind the fruit and flesh is good structure and focus.
A lush texture and sweet cherry flavor give this wine immediate appeal, though it has the underlying tannins to improve with age. Flavors of toast, clove and licorice add interest.
