Château Roc d'Anglade
Roc d'Anglade

Domaine Roc d'Anglade is one of the most singular addresses in the Languedoc. Located in Langlade, in the Gard, on a terroir whose excellence Louis XIV recognised by awarding it the Blason Viticole in 1696, this ten-hectare estate is the work of a single man: Rémy Pédréno, a former engineer who turned to winemaking out of passion, trained alongside René Rostaing in Côte-Rôtie. He created Roc d'Anglade in 1999 with his wife Martine Pédréno and produced his first vintage in 2000.

The wines of Domaine Roc d'Anglade owe their unique character to two singular features of the Langlade terroir: soils that specialists compare to the great Burgundian appellations, and vines with a full north-facing exposure — rare under this southern sun. This orientation preserves a freshness and tension that nothing in the surrounding area can replicate. Rémy Pédréno has farmed his vineyard using certified organic and biodynamic practices since the very beginning, with a single obsession: that every bottle speaks first and foremost of the place where it was born.

The red wine of Roc d'Anglade, based on Carignan, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah, is a great red wine from the Languedoc with a finesse that evokes the finest reds of the north. The white wine of Roc d'Anglade, predominantly Chenin, ranks among the best white wines of southern France. The Reserva Especial Roc d'Anglade, a blend of several vintages in homage to grandfather Laureano, is the estate's flagship cuvée.
