Information on the vintage 1947 red Bordeaux: The second of the three great post-war vintages. An increasingly hot summer followed by harvesting in almost tropical conditions. The grapes had an exceptionally high sugar content but the heat caused serious fermentation problems resulting in quite a few wines suffering from high volatile acidity. On the whole, exceptionally rich almost voluptuous wines, though some living dangerously.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

The Chateau Smith Haut-Lafitte, is a vineyard of 68 hectares, located in the Gironde Martillac. Located in Pessac-Leognan appellation, it is classified as grand cru wine classification of Graves. The soil consists of serious Günziennes with vines with an average age of 30, for red wines made from 34% Merlot, 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc and 1% Petit Verdot, for whites and 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Semillon. The density is 7500 to 10 000 plants per hectare. The vineyard is operated on 56 ha, 45 ha and 11 ha of red wine white wine. Without a doubt, the elegant red wines copy of Smith Haut Lafitte and the sophisticated bouquet of its white renowned throughout the world deserve the daily care.  .
