Definitely a pure and classic claret with all the hallmarks and beauty. Probably drinking at peak but has a lot of life to give as is the case with most 1996s (especially from St Julien with its juicy fruit). Beautiful now and will be so for th enext decade easily.

Dark color, medium intensity and evolved. Moderately aromatic nose, suave and very pleasant. Caressing on the attack, with a subtle touch and an airy body in the mid-palate, a tad lively, the wine finishes on a good sappy length and rather melted.

Falstaff March - 2015

Medium ruby garnet, violet reflections, broader lightening at the edges. Delicate caramel-toned red cherry compote, fine herbal spice. A hint of plums. Medium complexity, elegant body, rather a hint of red berries, somewhat loosely woven, lacks some length.

Wild berries on the nose, with an exotic flower undertone. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, rich finish. Gorgeous red.

Tannic, young and slightly on the austere, masculine side of the style range. The nose offers secondary notes of tobacco, earth and cedar, but on the palate the wine is still young, crisp and tannic. Give it another 5 years and it could soften. But it will always be a beefy, traditional style of Bordeaux wine.

Dark crimson. Sweet, evolved, almost elderly nose. Aromatic fruit. Still the vestige of a backbone. Slight lack of concentration on the mid palate.

Château Leoville Barton
Château Leoville Barton
Château Léoville Barton is a wine estate located in the heart of Saint-Julien, in the Gironde region. Benefiting from the appellation of its commune, it is classified as a Second Grand Cru in the 1855 classification. The 45-hectare Leoville Barton vineyard is planted with 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc, on a marvelous terroir renowned as the best in the world for vines, and benefiting from ideal climatic conditions. Aging: 18 to 20 months in oak barrels, on average 60% new Due to the absence of a château on this terroir, the wine is traditionally aged in the cellars of its sister estate, Langoa-Barton, which it regularly outclasses despite identical grape varieties and vinification. Very well-balanced, this wine with a powerful and generous character is considered one of the best Saint-Julien wines.
