The Château Haut-Bailly is a french estate that produce Graves grands crus classés in Pessac-Leognan appellation.
Château Haut-Bailly is one of the few major properties to produce only red. In 1998, the Sanders family sold the vineyard to an American banker, Bob Wilmers, but Veronique Sanders continues to manage. Tannins wise, almost discreet, a delicate balance, "without anything too" as he likes to say, Jean Sanders, define the incomparable style Haut Bailly. Nothing conspicuous in this wine that embodies the finesse of Bordeaux.

(04-1991) Ruby red color. Evolved. Brick. Medium intensity. Brilliant. Clean, intense nose. Fine and very spicy with notes of basil. Complex with a hint of lemon peel. Astonishing. With clear and intense agitation. Complex with a slightly vegetal hint. A marvelous supple and melted attack which develops on a fatty and concentrated structure with a very spicy flavor. Evolution on still marked tannins which catch the heart of the tasting then persist more fat, fruity and very spicy towards an incredibly long finish. Perhaps less mature than the 70 but more subtle. For Mr. SANDERS has long been the flagship vintage of the property before being recently overtaken by the 64.
(11-1986) Always, well made, ahead of the pack. A charmer. Sweet, fragrant.
