Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Past full maturity, but there was still some gas left in the tank, which delivered a medium-bodied wine loaded with dried flowers, tobacco leaf, red cherries, herbs, and truffle. Soft in texture, with a plummy edge on the palate, no decanting is warranted here, just pop, pour and let it rip before the fruit continues to fade.

(5-2012) Dark color, with no trace of brown or orange evolution. The nose is quite discreet but elegant, black fruit, mushroom, ripe. The wine is rather thick, dense. Perfectly balanced palate. The tannins are melted, beautiful acidity, smooth, medium but correct length. This wine is perfect to drink now. It provides a lot of pleasure.

Clos Fourtet

Château Clos Fourtet is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the commune of Saint Emilion in Gironde. The grand vin Clos Fourtet is a Premier Grand Cru Classé B of Saint-Emilion.

Clos Fourtet currently spans nearly 18.7 hectares of vines. Its terroir is naturally drained with clay-limestone soil. The vines are 25 years old on average. The harvest is carried out following great winemaking traditions with hand-picking, while respecting the environment through the use of organic fertilizers. The grape variety composition consists of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc.

The best wines from Château Clos Fourtet are the 1945 wines, the 1949 and 1953 vintages, the 1962 vintage, the grand crus from 1982 and 1989. Finally, the 1990 vintage, 2005 and 2009 wines are exceptional.
