Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Fully mature, there is an elegant charm going on here. Loads of tobacco, cedar wood, cassis and wet earth in the nose. Soft, silky elegant tannins and fresh, sweet, red fruits in the finish. This is not a wine to hold as it is giving all its pleasures today.

Lovely nose of evolved Bordeaux with complementary notes of graphite and smoked tea. The palate is in great shape, not monstrously powerful but very pleasant, with a fine, classic balance. Perfect to drink now!

Lively and vibrant on the palate, showing currant, cherry and herbal flavors in an elegant package of moderate tannins and firm acidity. Fruit flavors last a long time on the finish.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1985 is a spicy, plummy, tasty wine with undeniable appeal because of precocious fruitiness. Once past all the up-front charm and make-up, there is not much depth or tannin.

Château Branaire Ducru
Château Branaire Ducru

Château Branaire Ducru is a fourth growth classified (official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification) from the Saint-Julien appellation in Médoc. The vineyard covers nearly 60 hectares of vines. Château Branaire-Ducru is now one of the jewels of Saint Julien. It is highly sought after for its very pure red fruit. Its typical composition, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, opens with bright aromas of raspberry and blackberry, before becoming more complex on the palate with delicate nuances of mineral, pencil lead, smoke and spring flowers... The Château also produces a second wine: Duluc de Branaire Ducru.

The best vintages of Château Branaire Ducru are 1975, 1982 grand cru wines, 1989, the 1995 vintage and the 1996 vintage. The wines from 2000, 2001, 2003 vintage and 2005 are also exceptional. Finally, the grand crus from 2009, 2010 vintage and the 2015 vintage are great vintages.
