Château Trotte Vieille is a wine estate located in Saint-Emilion in the Gironde department. The 10 hectares of vineyard are managed using sustainable viticulture practices that limit the use of chemical products of any kind. The grape varieties consist of Merlot (55%), Cabernet Franc (40%) and only 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Château Trotte Vieille is recognized as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the official Saint-Emilion classification. Since 2002, the estate has also been producing a second wine called 'La Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille'.
The vintages to prioritize are 1982, 1985, the 1989 vintage as well as the 1990 vintage. Finally, we recommend the Château Trotte Vieille 1996, the Château Trotte Vieille 2005 and the Trotte Vieille 2009.

The origin of the Château's name comes from the estate's legend. Indeed, in the past, an old woman used to trot to the nearest stagecoach stop to get the latest news. A 15th-century Gascon parchment attests to the use of this name, Trotte Vieille. This is how the estate's origin came to be. This story is also reflected in the name of the second wine of this Grand Cru Classé B, "La Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille".
