Ranking Burgundy - Grand Cru

Grands Crus of Burgundy is the highest level of Burgundy wine classification.

Contrary to the various Bordeaux rankings that prioritize the Châteaux, in Burgundy it is the terroirs that are evaluated. A Grand Cru represents what the land offers best for the vine. While a Premier Cru combines the name of its climate with that of its village appellation, for a Grand Cru the climate is a name in its own right. There are 33 Grands Crus among which: Chambertin, Bonnes Mares, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, Romanée Conti, Romanée, La Tâche, Richebourg, Echezeaux, Romanée Saint Vivant, Grands Echezeaux, Corton, Corton Chevalier, Montrachet ...
