(Ed 1998) This wine is one of the finest efforts from Bordeaux's right bank in the 1986 vintage. The wine remains deep ruby-colored, with a complex nose suggesting cedar wood, fruitcake, Asian spices, roasted herbs, and black currants. In the mouth, there is moderate tannin as well as impressively concentrated flavors that roll across all the palate's sweet spots. Medium to full-bodied and rich, this 1986 admirably marries power with finesse. The wine is still youthful, but is soft and developed enough to be enjoyed immensely.

Vieux Chateau Certan, Pomerol, Bordeaux. The property is Vieux Chateau Certan located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. The vineyards of Chateau Vieux Certan is composed of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This vine can be explained by the desire to find the best possible balance between Merlot and Cabernet Franc. On the soil of Old Castle Certan, Cabernet Franc reached a level of maturity and quality simply outstanding. Owned by the Thienpont family for nearly a century, Vieux Chateau Certan is directed by Alexandre Thienpont has made this area one of the biggest names in Pomerol. A great concentration and a sumptuous palette of aromas characterize the style of Old Castle Certan. The estate produces a second wine offers: Gravette of Certan.
