Medium ruby garnet, ochre reflections, broad watery rim. Reserved, some mint, delicately floral in the bouquet, red berry touch, delicate herbal spice. Taut, enormous acidity structure, lemony, subtle tannins, delicately peppery on the finish, slightly astringent finale.

Information on the vintage 1975 red Bordeaux: Unquestionably better than the three prededing vintage and certainly interesting, not to say challenging. The summer heat and the dryness, whilst helping the sugar content, thickened the skins. It resulted in wines of good fruit with high alcohol content, dark colour and high tannins. It was, still is, the latter which has caused the controversy.

Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol, Bordeaux. The Vieux Château Certan estate is located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. The Vieux Château Certan vineyard consists of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This grape variety composition reflects the desire to find the best possible balance between Merlot and Cabernet Franc. On the Vieux Château Certan terroir, Cabernet Franc reaches an exceptional level of maturity and quality. Owned by the Thienpont family for nearly a century, Vieux Château Certan is managed by Alexandre Thienpont who has made this estate one of the greatest names in Pomerol. High concentration and a sumptuous aromatic palette characterize the style of Vieux Château Certan. The estate produces a second wine: Gravette de Certan.
