Wine Spectator May - 1999
Wine Spectator
A vibrant '89 with a wonderful fresh fruit character. Dark-ruby color. Very fresh aromas of blackberries and plums. Full-bodied and packed to the brim with fruit, adding fine yet slightly green tannins. Hard to resist now.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1989 exhibits an impressive deep rubypurple color, a highly scented nose of exceptionally ripe cassis fruit and licorice, full body, an excellent mid-palate, and a rich, intense, relatively tannic finish.

Château Pontet Canet

Historically, the wines at Pontet-Canet belong to the legend of the Medoc. Deep ruby, purple, sometimes black, Pontet-Canet wine develops a characteristic nose with a mix of black fruit, especially blackcurrants, licorice, plum, hints of figs, cedar and some cocoa. At the tasting, the wine combines power and elegance, density and amplitude. From a muscular nature, it imposes a sense of serene classicism with the tannic structure that reveals a long and peaceful custody. Men Pontet-Canet are constantly continuing their work there are now more than three centuries, making, each time the most advanced techniques with an eternal desire to improve the quality of wine in the respect and the purest expression of terroir. The wine of Pontet-Canet, and the second wine, Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet, are exclusively sold by traders in the Bordeaux.
