Historically, the wines at Pontet-Canet belong to the legend of the Medoc. Deep ruby, purple, sometimes black, Pontet-Canet wine develops a characteristic nose with a mix of black fruit, especially blackcurrants, licorice, plum, hints of figs, cedar and some cocoa. At the tasting, the wine combines power and elegance, density and amplitude. From a muscular nature, it imposes a sense of serene classicism with the tannic structure that reveals a long and peaceful custody. Men Pontet-Canet are constantly continuing their work there are now more than three centuries, making, each time the most advanced techniques with an eternal desire to improve the quality of wine in the respect and the purest expression of terroir. The wine of Pontet-Canet, and the second wine, Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet, are exclusively sold by traders in the Bordeaux.

(01-2010) Pale rim. Scented and fragrant. Solid but racy underneath. Lively – like the 2004, much better than average for the vintage.
(01-1998) One of the finest as well as longest-lived wines of the vintage, this opaque purple-colored 1994 needs 7-10 years of cellaring. This rich, impressive, full-bodied wine represents the finest Pontet-Canet produced since the 1961. This full-bodied, purely made wine is crammed with black currant fruit, as well as forbiddingly tannic and backward.
