Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Served at the “KFC at The Ledbury” soiree, the Magdelaine ’71 is one of the most over-achieving wines that I have encountered in recent years. It has a beautifully sculpted bouquet with scents of redcurrants and cranberry, freshly tilled earth, wild hedgerow and a hint of black truffle that was unbelievably youthful considering its age. Very elegant, a wonderful marriage of intensity and understatement. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, silky smooth with immense purity, a Saint Emilion that shimmers on the precise, fresh as a daisy finish. It is one of those wines that had prompted me to re-think the potential of the estate. Tasted February 2011.

Nez très attrayant et complexe. Tabac, terre, épices, fruits rouges. Tanins très souples, veloutés et voluptueux, finale très longue. Exceptionnel !
