If you're looking for power, find another wine. This is about finesse, elegance and current drinkability. The nose offers tobacco, black cherry and earthy scents. The palate is refined, soft and already serving the goods. It's probably not going to make it to old age, but there is no rush to drink this before it hits 20.

Untypical of Saint-Julien, this wine is solid, chunky, quite foursquare. But it has good punch, richness and depth, along with concentrated black fruits.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Right off the bat this is a beautiful 2000 that has generosity, and is beginning to soften after a long slow rise. Warming and spicy, with enticing notes of black truffles, leather, undergrowth, campfire smoke and gently brambled fruit. There is still focus and structure here, acidity relatively marked, giving emphasis on eucalyptus and mint leaf. A perfect moment to drink, and this is just balanced and effortless, capturing the spirit of St Julien with a little bottle age. Feels on the plateau, not in the ascent, with spice and herbs more evident than fruit at this stage, but full of charm.

RVF Magazine The first nose is marked by a touch of reduction. The palate is full, with richness and a slight touch of candied fruit on the finish. Drink now.

This is really delicious, with a core of juicy blueberry, blackberry and plum fruit flavors layered with singed juniper, tobacco leaf and bittersweet cocoa notes. The lovely interplay between sweet and savory continues through the finish, which has a long, graceful sanguine echo.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
This beautiful Bordeaux fruit bomb offers abundant notes of black currants, herbs, cherries, cedar, and spice box. Fleshy and medium to full-bodied with no hard edges, the 2000 Gloria is a total thrill to consume. Enjoy it over the next decade, perhaps longer.

Château Gloria
Château Gloria was born after World War II from Henri Martin's desire, then mayor of Saint-Julien, to create a renowned estate. Upon his death in 1991, his son-in-law Jean-Louis Triaud took over.Château Gloria is a 44-hectare wine estate in the Médoc, located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle in Gironde. It is a Saint-Julien AOC.On soil made of Günzian gravel, the vineyard is planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. It spans 44 hectares. The vineyard is established on sedimentary rock. Homogeneous on the surface with a sea of pebbles, the subsoil reveals a complexity that creates the variety of Saint-Julien wines. The wines of Château Gloria have an intense and dark color, the 2006 vintage exhales powerful aromas of black fruits. The palate reveals notes of spices, blackcurrant, and chocolate. The finish is pure and long.
