Jean-Marc Quarin
(4-2003) Dark red. Medium to good intensity. Pretty. Clean. Medium to good intensity. Fine. Very, very smoky. Reminiscent of Pessac-Léognan and especially Malartic? Same. Very intense. Soft, refreshing and very, very aromatic on the finish, it presents a fluid body and a flowing aspect in the mouth that is quite disconcerting. I don't have the impression of being in Bordeaux but rather in Burgundy! Difficult to pin down and to rate.

Durfort Viviens
Château DURFORT-VIVENS owes its name to the Durfort de Duras, a powerful family from southwestern France who settled in Margaux in the 14th century. In 1824, Viscount de Vivens added his name to Durfort. The estate's reputation reached its peak: the 1844 vintage was sold at a higher price than all Second Growths in the Margaux appellation. Thanks to Lucien Lurton, from 1961 onwards, the grand cru regained its noble status. His son, Gonzague Lurton, the current owner, has chosen to enhance the qualities of the mythical Margaux terroir more and more each year. The 1982, 1986, 1989, and 2001 vintages particularly received excellent reviews from Wine Spectator magazine.
