Jancis Robinson August - 2017

The original cuvée disgorged in 2007. Richard Geoffroy took over from Dominique Foulon in 2000 and was told, you won’t have same vintage on both Grand Vintage and Dom P but this turned out not to be the case. Fresh and quite open and developed. Dry finish. Lightly oxidatively dried sensation but on the finish very rewarding.

Nutty and toasty, this is already maturing. It has a ripe, soft texture, deliciously balanced between acidity, grapefruit and riper peach flavors. It feels sumptuous, rich and certainly ready to drink.

Dom Perignon
Dom Perignon

Dom Pérignon is the prestige cuvée of the house of Moët & Chandon, in Champagne. Born in the wake of the Hautvillers Abbey, it follows a unique rule: to exist only as a vintage wine, from a single harvest year, in a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir sourced from the great terroirs around Épernay. A long aging on lees gives it its fine bubble and its style that is at once powerful and refined.

From 1921, the very first vintage of the house, to the 2006 wine, Dom Pérignon lines up champagnes built for long aging: the 1969, the 1993 vintage, the Dom Pérignon 1996 and the 2002 are among the house's benchmark releases.
