Expert's opinions
Utterly profound in every way, the 2010 Hermitage les Bessards comes from the steepest, most rugged and "badass" part of Hermitage Hill, the broken granite soils of the les Bessards lieu-dit. Inky colored, thick and massively concentrated, it has sensational notes of liquid granite (the essence of granite!), smoked meats, scorched earth, currants and chocolate on the nose. Full-bodied, frighteningly concentrated, structured and backwards, it needs another decade of cellaring but will keep for half a century.

This just gets going and never quits. The wine is incredibly intense, perfectly balanced and the purity in the fruit coats your palate with layers of lush, powerful, ripe, mineral-driven, salty, deep, dark red fruits. The seamless finish stays with you for about 50 seconds. Wines this good can be enjoyed young, but the real fireworks should kick in between 2025 and 2030. It is going to be worth the wait.

Wine review online : Plan to put this baby in the cellar for a while. It comes from Les Bressards, a premier vineyard parcel known for muscular and long-lived Syrahs. Delas owns 25 acres of this cherished site. Not surprisingly, grapes are hand harvested on this steep, west facing hillside on the east bank of the Rhône river above Tain-Hermitage. This is a rich and powerful wine that will undoubtedly develop and unfold over time. The color is black ruby, quite dense suggesting the concentrated fruit in the glass. Aromas are plentiful with black cherry, cassis, leather and black olives. In the mouth, flavors are deep, rich and layered emboldened with ripe, rugged tannins. If you must drink it now, be sure to open it several hours in advance.

Château informations
The Maison Delas et frères was founded in 1835 in Tournon-sur-Rhône. Managed by the Delas family until 1977, the estate was then acquired by the family-owned company Champagnes Deutz.
It is therefore Fabrice who is now at the helm of Deutz/Delas.
The Domaine Delas Frères operates several plots in different appellations. The estate currently comprises 32 hectares: 10 hectares in Hermitage, 17 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage, and 2 hectares in Saint-Joseph. The Domaine owns vines that are approximately 40 years old and carries out its harvests by hand.
