Expert's opinions

93- The spectacular 2001 Meursault-Charmes reveals a boisterous nose of cloves, pears, spices, and white peaches. Hugely expansive, powerful, chewy-textured, and supple, this velvety wine slathers the palate with white pepper-laced apple compote whose flavors linger in its 45 second finish. Dominique Lafon is on fire, in a zone, on top of his game. He’s never made better wines, and he improves with each passing vintage.

Domaine des Comtes Lafon

The Domaine des Comtes Lafon is an estate that produces Burgundian wines. It encompasses 13.8 hectares, bringing together some of the most renowned crus in the region, planted with Chardonnay in the villages of Meursault, Puligny, and Montrachet, and with Pinot Noir in the villages of Volnay and Monthélie.

One of the greatest among the greats. Dominique Lafon puts everything in place to produce the finest white wines possible. Biodynamics, meticulous aging, from Meursault to Montrachet, the range is impressive in quality and consistency. You will love the white wines, but above all, don't forget the Volnay Santenots du Milieu, which is perfectly mastered.

The Domaine des Comtes Lafon is the most universally admired estate in the world for the appellations of Volnay and Meursault. The vineyard heritage is unique, with an ideal location for each lieu-dit, and for the main red plot, the Santenots du Milieu, a large enough area to allow rigorous grape selections and vinification with sufficient mass for optimal extraction control. The white wines have a unique sumptuousness of body and flavor, and the reds have an optimal balance between strength and finesse.
