Expert's opinions

93- The spectacular 2001 Meursault-Charmes reveals a boisterous nose of cloves, pears, spices, and white peaches. Hugely expansive, powerful, chewy-textured, and supple, this velvety wine slathers the palate with white pepper-laced apple compote whose flavors linger in its 45 second finish. Dominique Lafon is on fire, in a zone, on top of his game. He’s never made better wines, and he improves with each passing vintage.

Domaine des Comtes Lafon

The estate of Comtes Lafon is a producer of Burgundy wines. It's over 13.8 ha, comprised of the most respected appellations in Burgundy, planted with Chardonnay on the villages of Meursault, Puligny and Montrachet, and Pinot Noir in the villages of Volnay and Monthélie.

A great among the great. Everything is implemented by Dominique Lafon to achieve the finest white wines possible. Biodynamics, meticulous farming from Montrachet to Meursault, the range is of impressive quality and consistency. You'll love the white wines, but do not forget the Volnay Santenots du Millieu, a perfectly mastered wine.

The estate of Comtes Lafon is the most universally admired in the world in the Volnay and Meursault appellations. The vineyards are unique in that the vines in each parcel  great location have a great location. The principal parcel that makes the red wine Les Santenots du Milieu, is quite large which allowsfor rigorous sorting of the grapes and a sufficient mass of wine for optimal control of extraction. The white wines have a sumptuous body and unique flavor and the reds have an optimal balance between strength and finesse.
