Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Elegance, freshness and layers of sweet, silky textured cherries, black raspberries and wild strawberries are all over the place. The wine offers more elegance, freshness and restraint than power. This should be a bit better with a few more years of age.

A restrained style, with shadings of sandalwood and rose water weaving through the lightly mulled red currant, raspberry and cherry fruit. Blood orange, vanilla bean and mineral hints check in on the finish.

Falstaff April - 2012
Falstaff
Deep carmine-garnet color, with slight lightening at the rim. Initially delicate leafy notes, underscored by hints of red berries and Mediterranean herbs; still somewhat reserved overall. Juicy and powerful yet elegant, with good complexity and notes of nougat; harmonious, fresh and long-lasting. An expressive food wine whose opulence means it can be enjoyed soon.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The elegant 2006 Rayas Chateauneuf du Pape is not as powerful as the 2005 or 2007, but it offers a deep ruby color as well as opulent, fleshy, kirsch and black raspberry characteristics along with hints of spring flowers and loamy soil. A sexy, showy, beautifully balanced, silky effort, it is already approachable, and should drink well for two decades.,

Truly majestic concentration. Sweet, rich and spicy. Amazingly dense and youthful. Dry with lots of tannin on the finish. Put this away for ages.

Adrian van Velsen - vvWine February - 2016
Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Medium garnet red, lightened rim, the nose still somewhat restrained, seems cool, almost slightly herbaceous, then also with floral notes, red-fruited, hints of resin, very good complexity. On the palate soft, velvety beginning, lots of cooked strawberries, vanilla, raisins, spicy notes framed by an excellent structure. Still noticeably more flesh on the bone than the 99, definitely needs a bit more time and maturity. Very good complexity. On the finish with excellent length, wow, great cinema. Now until 2035.

Château Rayas
Château Rayas

Founded in 1880 and passed down within the same family ever since, Château Rayas holds a singular place in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation: its great red wine is a pure Grenache, aged without new oak in old large barrels, on a terroir of fine sands that gives it finesse and freshness rather than power. Rayas's white wine, rare, combines Grenache Blanc and Clairette.

The bottles offered here range from the great solar years — the 1988 wine and the 1990 vintage — to the return to the summit of the 2000s, with the year 2006, the 2010 wine and a more accessible 2011, passing through 2000. So many facets of an estate that has become one of the most sought-after references in the southern Rhône.
