Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
This is close to its peak today. With a splash decanting, the nose popped with its chocolate mint, flowers, plums and truffle character. Soft and silky, the sensuous finish, with its layers of plums, black cherries, cocoa and truffle sealed the deal. 96 Points

Served blind. Beautiful balance with a dry end. Absolutely classic claret. Pure and simple

(4-2006) Quite rich nose. Sweet, spicy, quite aggressive. Not ready yet and a bit brutal and spiky. Very chewy finish.

(4-2001) The finest La Fleur-Petrus I have tasted, this dense rubypurple-colored wine exhibits aromas and flavors of Chinese black tea, raspberries, kirsch liqueur, and flowers. Elegant, yet crammed with concentrated fruit, it is symmetrical, harmonious and long, with tremendous persistence on the palate. While not a blockbusterheavyweight, it is a wine of finesse and richness that admirably balances power with elegance. A great success!

(2009) Aromas of mushrooms and olives, turning to crushed blackberries. Full-bodied, with soft, round tannins and sweet ripe fruit. Long and flavorful. Why wait on this pretty wine?

Château la Fleur Petrus
Château la Fleur Petrus
Neighbor of Petrus, Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a remarkable Pomerol, fine and round, one of the greatest Pomerols, absolutely essential and still accessible, if one can say so. The terroir of Château La Fleur-Pétrus fully plays its role, with a soil of deep gravel that imparts natural elegance and finesse to the wine. The Cabernet Franc, used in larger quantities, gives a superb result, with wines that should be waited for almost ten years!
