Expert's opinions

100 / 100
Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Composed of 60% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah, and the rest Counoise and Grenache, this prodigious effort boasts an inky/blue/purple color to the rim in addition to an exceptional bouquet of camphor, roasted meats, blueberries, black cherries, black currants, truffles, beef blood, pepper, and incense. The sumptuous aromatics are followed by a wine of compelling intensity, full-bodied power, perfect balance, laser-like focus, and a finish that lasts more than a minute. The 2007's texture reminds me of the 1998 Jacques Perrin, and the freshness of the fruit and explosive aromatics are to die for.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Wow, this is insane from start to finish! The nose blasts you in the face with its ripe black raspberry, black cherry, smoke, herb, spice and black pepper personality. Thick, dense and intense, everything is in the right place keeping the wine in balance. Tannic, structured and meaty, the finish paints the fruit all over the place. This is far too young, but I am happy a friend brought this stunner over during the holidays. This is old vine Mourvedre at its best.

Jancis Robinson
Sumptuous. Animal but not too much so. Very sweet and gorgeous and lovely and with great zest. Dense and yet lively. Voluptuous. Tarry and juicy.

Château de Beaucastel
Château de Beaucastel

The château of Beaucastel is an estate located in Courthezon, a town near Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Vaucluse department. The château is a benchmark in Rhône wines. The château of Beaucastel extends over more than 130 hectares of vines. Three quarters are grown under the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and the rest is grown under the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation.

In the respect of winegrowing traditions, the castle carries out its harvest exclusively by hand. The grapes are carefully sorted on arrival at the cellar, only the finest grapes will be vinified. All the grape varieties are cuvées separately, each one having its own character, its aromas: Grenache and Cinsault give warmth, color and mellowness, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Muscardin and Vaccarèse: solidity, longevity and a very frank taste. finally Counoise and Picpoul for freshness, and bouquets of particular aromas.

The meticulous work of the Perrin family is different each year and determines the quality, originality and specificity of each vintage. This marriage is the culmination of months of effort, care, loving attention at all times. It is the expression of a terroir in a specific year.
