1918 Vintage wine
Our opinion on the 1918 vintage: a great year for Bordeaux wines
Despite the end of the First World War in 1918, peace did not come until the end of the year, making this the last vintage of the war.
In Bordeaux, the 1918 vintage was of good quality, despite the labor shortage caused by the Armistice. Bordeaux reds from 1918 were very robust, generous, vinous and attractively colored. Château Margaux created its Pavillon Rouge label to designate its second wine.
Sauternes shone thanks to exceptional weather conditions, rivalling the 1906 vintage. Light and mellow, these sweet wines are very pleasant to drink.

In Burgundy, bad weather affected the quality of the 1918 vintage, while in Champagne, mildew and cochylis ruined the vintage.
In the Rhône Valley, on the other hand, the 1918 vintage was remarkably successful, with quality comparable to that of 1904.
