Château Lamothe Guignard, Second Classified Growth, Sauternes The Lamothe estate is located on one of the highest points in the commune of Sauternes. Historically, the estate was divided into several properties. The Guignard family acquired the estate's parcels in 1981 and renamed it Château Lamothe-Guignard. Today, it covers 16 hectares, planted with Semillon (90%), Sauvignon (5%), and Muscadelle (5%). The Lamothe estate has been classified as a Second Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes since 1855.
