1960 was the first vintage Único from Vega Sicilia was bottled in magnum. The 1960 Único was a pleasant surprise to continue the legend of the even-numbered vintages from the 1960s (1964 was also very good, but no magnums were produced). It is a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Malbec and white Albillo. It's still lively and juicy with some fine tannins and a velvety mouthfeel, with a faint touch of leather.

Surprisingly dark, almost black color core, delicate brass reflections. Delicate oxidation hints, sweet dried plums, candied orange zest and figs. Juicy body, chocolatey touch, subtly nutty, firm tannins, very mineral, a hint of rancio on the finish, slightly bitter nuances on the aftertaste.

François Audouze:  Let us say from the outset was, I believe, the greatest of Vega Sicilia Unico I drank. It is not a gram of roasting found often, and purity, honesty, remind me more of Guigal wines, when they were a bit old, the Royal Kebir with which I one day wanted to compare Vega Sicilia. This wine is a bomb of happiness, understandable and captivating.
