Beautiful dark and slightly evolved color. Discreet nose, more aromatic and fruitier on the non-decanted sample. More oxidative on the decanted sample. Very pleasant palate, well-made with good body and a caressing texture. Very fruity, the wine finishes flavorful, on a soft tannicity, with fine grain. Normal length. With such a profile, a little more power would have completely transcended it. Decanting amplifies its tactile qualities.

A fairly forward wine with a strong nose of cassis, earth, herbs and tobacco. Spicy plum and roasted red berry flavors on the open, fairly supple palate. Has good fruit and a full finish with moderate tannins that dispalys licorice and dark fruit flavors. Good now, better in two years.

Bought by Rouzaud in June 1995. Quite a bit of Merlot in this wine, very similar deep crimson with a brownish, rusty rim to the 1996. Rather tired nose. Past its best with sweet, stewed fruit.
