Wine Spectator December - 2010

Hints of burnt sugar and toffee accent this bright Champagne, along with notes of apple pie, bread dough, cream and candied lemon peel. There's a fine balance between the wine's finesse and its lively character, with a long, smoke-tinged finish.

Falstaff July - 2017
Falstaff
Medium golden yellow. Delicate brioche notes, ripe yellow apple aromas, subtle pear nuances, a hint of blossom honey, clear citrus notes and a mineral touch – very appealing. Elegant texture, wine-like style, gentle apple nuances, racy structure, expressive and harmonious, gripping, good ageing potential.

Tom Cannavan January - 2020

The 2002 Belle Epoque is 50% Chardonnay, 46% Pinot Noir with 4% Pinot Meunier. The colour has a little golden hue and there is loads of creamy, nutty, gently toasty development, but ripe rosy apple fruit too. In the mouth it is generous and sweet-fruited, a pillow of soft mousse flows across the tongue, then suddenly there's an initial spark of citrus and salt, that develops nicely into a long tantalising finish playing sweetness against sharpness delightfully.

Magazine RVF 547 Closed on the nose, its style leans more towards dried fruits and almonds, still showing beautiful maturity. The wine is harmonious and refined, with a velvety mousse. Powerful in style, it retains a fine ageing acidity.

Quite bright, pale straw colour with fine bubbles. The nose is offering some floral notes, white peach, ripe citrus. The palate is firm and fresh with restrained fruit, nice creaminess, yellow fruit and a rather long finish.

Jancis Robinson November - 2012
Jancis Robinson
50% Chardonnay, 46% Pinot Noir, 4% Pinot Meunier. Dark straw. Much, more evolved on the nose than the others. Open texture without the real density of the best 2002s. A little sweet and soft. Medium weight.

Vinum Wine Magazine December - 2010
Vinum Wine Magazine
Very restrained, yet also very pure in its aromatics, in contrast to the BSA, mineral and floral; creamy, of pronounced elegance, delicate and full of finesse; a worthy Belle Epoque that lives up to its reputation and its name.
