Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
A treasure from yesteryear, the Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey 1922 is one of those unexpected Sauternes undiminished by age. Lucid deep amber in hue, it has a complex bouquet that is mercurial in the glass with perfumed scents of dried honey, Seville oranges, marmalade, wild heather and a touch of chlorine. The palate is nigh on perfectly balanced and underpinned by a killer line of acidity. Orange zest and Chinese five spice, mandarin and kumquat, touches of citrus fruit towards the finish, the 1922 is still nimble on its feet and yet delivers exquisite intensity on the finish. This is simply fabulous. Drink now throught 2035.

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 1st Growth Classified Wine from Sauternes. Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 1st Growth Classified Wine from Sauternes Manual harvesting of grapes through extremely strict successive selections (4 to 7 depending on the year) according to the spread of ripeness, performed with the aim of picking only grapes that have reached the required concentration level under the action of noble rot — also known as Botrytis cinerea — and to preserve the desired aromatic precision. Depending on the vintage, certain plots are sacrificed to focus on those with qualitative potential.
