Usually lean, crisp and elegant, the '85 is incredibly sweet and fleshy. Good, ripe fruit. Very attractive. One of my highest marks at the Decanter blind tasting of '85 Medocs.

Château Haut Batailley
Château Haut Batailley

Château Haut-Batailley is a 22-hectare Bordeaux wine estate located in Pauillac, Gironde. It produces Fifth Classified Growths according to the 1855 Médoc classification.

The estate was purchased by the Borie family, who also own Châteaux Grand-Puy-Lacoste and Ducru-Beaucaillou. Currently managed by François-Xavier Borie, the wine is aged for 16 to 20 months in oak barrels, partially new (30 to 40% depending on the year). The second wine is called Château La Tour L'Aspic.
