Jean-Marc Quarin March - 2007
Jean-Marc Quarin
Here is a great success of the vintage and especially of the appellation. I have always enjoyed tasting it in the past and it is a pleasure to find it at this level after a few years in bottle. It is imperative to decant the wine in order to dispel slightly muddy odors at first. Then the nose clears, becomes complex, takes on notes of smoke, meat and fresh cream. Particularly silky and velvety entry on the palate. The wine develops full, juicy, caressing, aromatic with a taste of coffee, cedar, cocoa. Rather complex. The tannicity is perfectly enveloped. The finish is flavorful and the aromas refined. Here is one of the most perfect tannin grains of Pomerol in this vintage. Bravo to Nicolas de Baillancourt. Best drunk before 2027

Very nice aromatics: sweet, spicy and mineral with some herbs and tar, as well as a hint of coffee. The palate has robust, spicy, herby, gravelly depth with attractive berry fruits. Nicely mineral in a savoury style, with some firm tannins.

Extremely attractive now, but will reward those with patience. Beautiful aromas of berries and chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a lovely, berry-vanilla aftertaste

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
This deep rubypurple-colored wine has shut down following bottling, and while it hints at some of its exotic grilled herb and meat-like character, the reluctant nose reveals primarily new oak, smoke, spice, and background jammy fruit. On the palate, the wine is deep, medium to full-bodied, refined, and except for some noticeably hard tannin in the finish, relatively seamless. This expansively-flavored wine offers plenty of spice, new oak, fruit, and depth.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Medium/full bodied, firm, tannic, and austere in style, with a stern plummy character. The nose was much more interesting than the palate, with its truffle, dark chocolate and cherry characteristics.

Château Gazin
Gazin
The wines of Château GAZIN are very typical of the Pomerol terroir. Their sumptuous generosity offers a wide aromatic palette of red and black fruits that harmonizes with their intense, purple or garnet color. The wines of Château GAZIN also often deliver nuances of plum, chocolate, coffee or licorice, aromas of almond, toasted bread, tobacco and vanilla, and a minty freshness. Maturity gives them a spicy nose, truffle fragrances, notes of undergrowth and animal scents: game, fur, leather... On the palate, they are characterized by the finesse of their tannins, their balance and concentration enhanced by a delicate woodiness. Feminine and charming, due to the dominance of Merlot, Château GAZIN wines can be enjoyed pleasantly after a few years of aging, but they often deserve to wait fifteen, twenty years or more.
