Food and Wine Pairing: The marriage between foie gras and Château Coutet wines is recognized by all gastronomes. On the cheese side, the association of the two "noble rots" penicilium roqueforti from Roquefort and botrytis from Sauternes is also an excellent choice, we will also mention pressed cooked cheeses such as Comté (24 months of maturation). Finally, fruit-based desserts will also go very well with the sweet wines of Château Coutet.

Château Coutet
Château Coutet

Château Coutet is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the Barsac area. The Château has over 38 hectares of vineyards, mainly planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grape varieties. Coutet is a Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes in the Sauternes classification of classified growths.

As at Château d'Yquem, the old vertical presses are still in use and the must, after settling, is vinified in new barrels. Château Coutet produces a nectar of exceptional longevity. Under the direction of Marcel Baly since 1977, the wine has gained in liqueur richness, while maintaining its freshness and grace.

The best wines from the Château are the 1929 and 1949 vintages, the 1959 wines, the 1961 vintage, the 1989 vintage, the 1990 classified growths, 2000 grand cru wines and the young 2005 vintage.
