(082011) Low shoulder and leaking bottle. The wine is very dark, almost black. Brilliant nose, honey, white flower, very sweet. Perfect palate of power and balance, very rich, very long. A very great Sauternes.

Château Coutet
Château Coutet

Château Coutet is a Bordeaux wine estate located in the Barsac area. The Château has over 38 hectares of vineyards, mainly planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grape varieties. Coutet is a Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes in the Sauternes classification of classified growths.

As at Château d'Yquem, the old vertical presses are still in use and the must, after settling, is vinified in new barrels. Château Coutet produces a nectar of exceptional longevity. Under the direction of Marcel Baly since 1977, the wine has gained in liqueur richness, while maintaining its freshness and grace.

The best wines from the Château are the 1929 and 1949 vintages, the 1959 wines, the 1961 vintage, the 1989 vintage, the 1990 classified growths, 2000 grand cru wines and the young 2005 vintage.
