Wine Spectator May - 1989

Seductively rich and supple with layers of elegant plum, cherry and currant flavors that are beautifully defined before the tannins kick in on the finish. The notes linger on and on. Best from 1998 through 2009

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1986 Clerc Milon, which was still around 22 hectares at this time, is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. I last tasted this in April 2013 when it showed well. Three years later, it has a very meaty, fully mature bouquet with attractive secondary aromas of singed leather and oxtail scents developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, a little rustic on the entry, grainy in texture, masculine with graphite, leather and dried blood. Quite a spicy Pauillac, ferrous even and showing a little dryness towards the finish, this is a commendable Clerc-Milon that is beginning to show more of its bucolic charm, but I would still take pleasure in seeing this on the dinner table.

Jancis Robinson June - 2015

This particular wine is one of Mouton winemaker Philippe Dhalluin's favourites, exhibiting nicely the potential of this estate. It was served blind – another leftover from the Chinese guests as lunch who requested younger wines than this and the Mouton 1961 that had been prepared for the. I thought it was a 1990; it was that luscious and sweet. Very round and full – packed full of charm.

Château Clerc Milon
Since 1933, in Pauillac, Médoc, Société Baron Philippe de Rothschild has been driven by a constant ambition: to make the world's finest wines, each in its category. With its Château wines, which it manages, such as the illustrious Château Mouton Rothschild, First Growth of Pauillac, and its brilliant seconds Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac. Clerc Milon is a beautiful Pauillac, with wonderful aromatic complexity. Notes of currants, violet, freshly picked berries with a vanilla and mineral touch can be found both on the nose and palate. Clerc Milon is very well positioned to be among the best vintages of this estate. Generally quite early-maturing, the 1998 Clerc Milon is already delicious. It shows density and substance and, with incredible charm, intoxicates with subtle and intense perfumes with unmatched precision. A great, accessible Pauillac.
