The Hospices de Beaune wine estate spans 61 hectares of highly reputable vineyards. These are all select vineyards because, from each donation, the Hospices have only kept what was worthy of their renown. The vines are scattered across almost all the communes of the Côte de Beaune: Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard, Monthelie, Auxey-Duresses, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. The cuvées, which formerly bore the names of their winemakers, were given the names of the main donors at the end of the last century in recognition of the Hospices. The cultivation methods at Hospices de Beaune are those that have been validated by past experience and modernized by science in the exclusive pursuit of quality. High yields are prohibited and red wines are produced exclusively from the "Pinot Noir" grape that has made Burgundy's reputation.
