(1-2001) Black licorice and blackberry on the nose. Full in body and tannins, but soft and voluptuous. Long finish. A château on the rise.

(4-2000) The finest Grand Pontet yet tasted, the saturated blackpurple-colored 1998 offers a knock-out nose of nearly overripe blackberry fruit, kirsch liqueur, licorice, smoke, and toasty new oak. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich, with impressive equilibrium, this concentrated, deep wine will be even better after another 2-3 years of bottle age. It will last for 15-16 years. Impressive! Grand Pontet is undervalued in today's wine market, a rarity for Bordeaux.

Château Château Grand Pontet
Château Grand Pontet
Château Grand-Pontet. Grand Cru Classé wine, Saint Emilion Grand Cru red. Château Grand Pontet has made this grand cru classé a remarkable reference in the Saint Emilion appellation. Sylvie Pourquet-Bécot is the director of this 14-hectare estate. Château Grand Pontet shows great consistency even in complex vintages. While its wine can easily age for several years in the cellar, it has the privilege of revealing most of its assets from its youth.
