Château Fombrauge is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru property. It is the largest Grand Cru Classé property in the appellation, with a 59-hectare vineyard that produces predominantly Merlot wine.

Fombrauge is four kilometers east of the town of Saint-Emilion, and has existed as a property since the 15th century.

The Fombrauge vineyard has varied soils ranging from clay-limestone on limestone to ferrous deposits and molasse soils. Fombrauge also has a range of different exposures, giving an unusual complexity of terroir for the appellation.

The majority of the vineyard is planted with Merlot (90%), Cabernet Franc about eight percent and Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon making up the rest.

Château Fombrauge is harvested by hand in small crates and is generally cold macerated before fermentation in oak vats. The wines are then aged in French oak vats and barrels, 50% of which are new.

Château Château Fombrauge
Château Fombrauge
Château Fombrauge is "one of the most consistent growths of Saint-Émilion" (Bettane and Desseauve). After a succession of owners, Bernard Magrez acquired Château Fombrauge in 1999 from a Danish trading house. With the support of Michel Rolland, Bernard Magrez succeeded in promoting the quality of Château Fombrauge wines in France, as his predecessor had reserved them almost exclusively for the Scandinavian market. Château Fombrauge produces a white Bordeaux of the same name as well as the Sublime du Château Fombrauge, also in white, Le Cadran du Château Fombrauge in red and rosé.
