Expert's opinions

Information on the vintage 1982 red Bordeaux : A milestone. It was the first really importnat, and well-timed, vin de garde since 1970, and perhaps the first universally touted ripe-for-investment vintage of the post war period. Rich tannic wines resulted. Château Lachesnaye
Lachesnaye
The Lachesnaye estate is a former seigniorial land located in the territory of the former parish of Sainte-Gemme. In 1793, it belonged to the Caupène family who inherited it from Sire de La Chesnaye, the founder of the estate. After various owners, the estate then called Lachesnaye Sainte-Gemme was purchased on April 25, 1927, by Mr. Gomez, of Venezuelan origin, who renamed it Lachesnaye. After the terrible frosts of 1956, Mr. Gomez uprooted all the vines and there was not a single vine left when Jean Bouteiller bought the estate in 1961. The vineyard was then completely replanted.
