Château Villegeorge
Villegeorge
Château de Villegeorge, Superior Cru Bourgeois. Château de Villegeorge is a very old vineyard as Villegeorge wines have been appreciated since the 18th century. It was taken over by Lucien Lurton in 1973, who undertook its rehabilitation. His daughter Marie-Laure, who has been in charge of winemaking at this estate since 1986, took over its management in 1992 during the family division. This was followed by a large investment program over 15 years that allowed for the expansion of the vat room and barrel cellar, the installation of an effluent treatment plant, the modernization of the harvest reception, and finally the development of a tasting room. The soils of this 18-hectare vineyard, located in the communes of Avensan and Ludon, consist of deep gravel particularly favorable for producing great wines. Each production stage is carefully adapted to each plot. The team working day after day in the vineyard knows how to modify their methods to continuously improve grape quality. This chain of expertise, carried through to the cellar, allows for the production of consistently high-quality wines each year. In the June 2003 classification, Château de Villegeorge was classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur. Château de Peyremorin, the estate's second wine, benefits from the same care as its elder sibling
